The Essal Student Portal is fully optimized as a Progressive Web App (PWA). This allows you to install the portal directly from your browser to your home screen or desktop without going through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Why Install the PWA?

  • Instant Access: Launch the portal directly from your home screen icon.
  • Notifications: Receive instant push notifications for schedule changes, grades, and administrative updates.
  • Better Experience: Run the portal in a standalone, distraction-free app window (hiding the browser URL bar and tabs).
  • Speed: Faster page load speeds through local caching of assets.

Installation on Mobile Devices

1. Apple iOS (iPhone & iPad)

PWAs are fully supported on iOS through the native Safari browser:
  1. Open Safari on your iOS device.
  2. Go to the Student Portal URL: app.essal.institute.
  3. Tap the Share button (the square icon with an arrow pointing upwards) in Safari’s bottom toolbar.
  4. Scroll down the share menu and select Add to Home Screen.
  5. Set a name for the app (e.g., “Essal Student”) and tap Add in the top-right corner.
  6. The app icon will now appear on your device’s home screen.

2. Google Android

On Android, you can install the portal using Google Chrome or any compatible browser:
  1. Open Google Chrome on your Android device.
  2. Navigate to app.essal.institute.
  3. A popup prompt reading Add Essal to Home Screen or Install App should automatically slide up from the bottom. Tap it.
  4. If the popup does not appear:
    • Tap the three-dot Menu icon in the top-right corner of Chrome.
    • Select Install app (or Add to Home screen).
  5. Confirm by tapping Install.
  6. The app icon is now available on your home screen and in your app drawer.

Installation on Desktop Computers

You can install the portal as a desktop application on Windows, macOS, and Linux using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge:
  1. Open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on your computer.
  2. Navigate to the portal website: app.essal.institute.
  3. Look at the right side of the browser’s URL address bar. You will see an Install icon (a monitor with a down arrow, or a plus sign).
  4. Click the icon, and a popup window will ask Install App?.
  5. Click Install.
  6. The app will open in a standalone window, and a shortcut will be created on your desktop and applications menu.
