Importance of Attendance

Regular attendance is critical to academic success and practical skill mastery. At Essal Institute, presence in lectures, practical exercises, and lab sessions is compulsory. Attendance is recorded electronically by the instructor at the beginning of each class session, and statistics are synchronized instantly with the Student Portal.

Absences and Exclusions

Unjustified absences directly impact your academic standing. The limits for absences within any single module are strictly enforced:

Unexcused Absences Limits

  • 1st Absence: Warning sent automatically to your account on the Student Portal.
  • 2nd Absence: Final warning and a mandatory interview with the academic advisor.
  • 3rd Absence: Exclusion from the module (Exclusion de module). The student is given a grade of 00.00/20 for the module and is not permitted to sit for the final exam.

Summary of Warning Levels

Total Absences (Excused + Unexcused)

Even with justifications, if a student misses more than 25% of the total hours in a module, they will be excluded from the final exam due to insufficient instructional hours.

Justifying an Absence

If you miss a class due to illness, family emergency, or official administrative duties, you must submit a formal justification:
  1. Submission Window: Absences must be justified within 48 hours of returning to classes.
  2. Submission Method (Portal):
    • Scan or take a clear photo of your justification document.
    • Log in to the Student Portal.
    • Navigate to Attendance → Submit Justification.
    • Upload the file and specify the date and missed module.
  3. Acceptable Documents:
    • Medical Certificate (Certificat Médical): Signed and stamped by a licensed physician.
    • Administrative Summons: Official document from a government agency or court.
    • Force Majeure Proof: Official documentation verifying an emergency.
Late justifications (submitted after 48 hours) will not be accepted by the system, and the absence will remain classified as unexcused.
